We will be highlighting one room a week to help get out information as we get our online reservation system up and running. Today we feature: KING SUITE
In 1869 to support the railroad, George W King, a prolific land developer and business owner residing in Neillsville, WI, constructed this building as a hotel, bar and grill And dubbed it the ROCKY MOUND HOUSE. King owned several parcels of land and businesses in the area, including a sawmill in town that burnt down in 1878.
George W King was instrumental in the formation of the Town of Humbird and is noted as one of its first residents and leaders. Born in the UK, he and his family immigrated here through Boston and settled in Mentor, Ohio. Upon arriving in this area, he originally named this town Mentor, which is the name still used by our town officials as Humbird is unincorporated.
We have traced the life of George W King from the UK all the way to his final resting place in Idaho. It is believed he followed the path of many that time by continuing to push west to make his fortunes.
The KING SUITE is themed with classic art and period furniture in a Venetian aesthetic. It features a king size pillowtop bed and a foldout full sized sofa, perfect for couples desiring more room or for groups wanting to stay more economically. It also features a 50 inch TV and sitting room with the sofa bed and matching chair. It is one of the premier rooms in the property and also one of the most paranormal active rooms.
The KING SUITE is available for $129 a night regular price for two people with a $20 per person charge for each additional person up to four people, subject to change with events, seasonal traffic etc. Please note, due to the age of the building and to preserve historical integrity, there are two shared bathrooms utilized by all staying in the hotel. No accommodations can be made for private baths.
Stay in luxury fit for a King!
