HELP SAVE THE HISTORIC 1897 CLARK COUNTY JAIL MUSEUM

As owners of a historic property, we would be remiss if we didn't help fight to keep other historic properties open and available to the public.

The iconic 1897 Clark County Jail is in serious danger. There is a meeting tonight (September 17, 2026) to discuss demolishing it for a parking lot.

This building defines the Neillsville skyline and is a stunning piece of architecture. It is one of the main historic draws to the town and county seat. To demolish it is not only fool-hearty, but will further impact the economy of Neillsville, which needs more tourism, not less.

Last year the contents inside were sadly sold off. However, the building itself can be saved.

We have reached out in the past to try to bring in ghost hunters to help bring in more funding and received no reply. Others have reached out to try to buy it and restore it and all their inquiries have also gone unanswered.

Whether it is deemed as surplus and sold to a buyer with good intentions, or grant money is received to help stabilize it, we ask everyone to please take a moment to sign this petition and help us save the 1897 Clark County Jail.
