On Tuesday, June 18th, 1929, Mr. Harry Iffland and Miss Eva Miller were married at Two Harbors, Minn. They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sprester, brother-in-law and sister of the bride.

After the ceremony the four people went on a fishing trip near the Canada line, and they also entered Canada.

The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Miller of Alma Center, and is a young lady well spoken of by her many close friends.

The groom is too well known by most of our readers to need any introduction, having managed and operated the hotel and pool room here for a number of years.

After a few weeks the happy young couple will make their home on the Iffland farm, where they will assist the groom’s father, Geo. Iffland, with the farm duties.

The young couple returned home from the honeymoon fishing trip last Monday and brought a nice string of fish to show.

On further researching the Iffland's, we discovered that their daughter, Mayme Mildred Iffland, married, Cpl. Leonard J. Laffe, who was the son of the future operators of the property, George and Louisa Laffe.

In 1970 they were celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. In this newspaper cutting it describes how they were married in 1920 at Mayme's family home, The Humbird Hotel. It is wonderful to hear that such a joyous occasion was had had here with both these families coming together.

The marriage of Miss Mayme M. Iffland to Mr. Leonard J. Laffe took place Thursday at 2:30 p.m., at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Iffland. The ceremony was performed by Rev. A. J. Coram of Hixton, in the presence of the immediate families, in the parlors of the Iffland home, under a canopy formed of the national emblem and a bell of Lilies of the valley. Ferns were the decorations of the rooms, while the tables at which the wedding luncheon was served was decorated with sweet peas. Miss Mary Laffe attended the bride and Mr. Hugh Iffland acted as best man.

The bride wore a wedding dress of white satin and carried white roses, and the bridesmaid wore a gown of pink georgette crepe and carried pink roses. The groom and best man were attired in blue serge.

After the wedding repast, Mr. and Mrs. Laffe left on a honeymoon trip, driving to Augusta, where they took the evening train for a visit to Seattle and other points in the state of Washington. They will be at home to their friends after July 15th.
