Lydia Kuberra's obituary which mentions her ownership of The Humbird property:
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 25, at the Jensen Funeral Home, Hixton, for Mrs. Lydia Kubera, 83, who passed away on Wednesday at the La Crosse Lutheran Hospital. The Rev. Calvin Carey was the officiating clergyman.
Lydia C. Kubera was born on August 26, 1895, in Cashton to Mathias and Bertha Hove. On October 15, 1913, she was united in marriage to William Kuberra in Black River Falls. Except for a few years when they resided in the Northwest, the Kuberas lived in the Fairchild-Humbird area where they operated a restaurant-tavern business.
After her husband’s death in 1954, “Lida” continued to run the business until failing health forced her to retire. Several years ago, she moved to the Brookside Apartments in Sparta.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. James (Wilda) Smith of Racine, Mrs. Arthur (Charlotte) Linder of St. Paul and Mrs. Howard (Linda) Eddy of Black River Falls; a brother, Justin, Sparta; two sisters, Mrs. Olga Woods of Sparta and Mrs. Sylvester (Lottie) Sobyak, Fairchild ; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three sons, Daryl, Howard and Norman, a daughter, Hope, and one brother. ~ Clark County Press (Neillsville, Clark Co., WI) November 30, 1978
